X-Men: Prior Signs with San Diego (NL)

Free agent pitcher Mark Prior has signed a 1-year deal with the San Diego Padres, worth $1 million plus an additional $4.5 million in incentives.

The X-Men retain the rights to Prior, who is protectable for 2008, at 2 years and $2 salary.

Goodfellas: Taguchi Signs with Philadelphia (NL)

Free agent OF So Taguchi signed a one-year contract with the Phillies (with an option for 2009).

Goodfellas retains the rights to Taguchi, who is protectable for 2008 for 2 years and $10 salary.

Misogynistic Padres: Linden Signs with Oakland (AL)

Outfielder Todd Linden, who had been with the Giants and Marlins in 2007, signed a minor-league contract with the Oakland A’s, who extended him an invitation to Spring Training.

Linden was removed from the Misogynistic Padres roster, and is no longer eligible for protection for 2008.

Shoeless Jews: Jenkins Signs with Philadelphia (NL)

Free agent outfielder Geoff Jenkins signed a two-year, $13 million contract with a mutual vesting option for 2010 with the Philadelphia Phillies.  Jenkins will likely platoon with Jayson Werth.

Jenkins remains on the roster of Shoeless Jews, who can protect him for 2008 with two seasons and a salary of $11.

Cover Zero: Mike Lamb Signs with Minnesota (AL)

Free-agent corner-man Mike Lamb has signed a two-year contract with the Minnesota Twins.

Lamb has been removed from Cover Zero’s roster, and is no longer eligible for protection for 2008.  Lamb’s signing comes one day after Cover Zero (and former Astro) Adam Everett signed with the Twins.

Get Off Kong!: Floyd Signs with Tampa Bay (AL)

Free-agent Cliff Floyed signed a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.  Floyd will get $3 million in 2008 with $2 million in incentives.

Floyd is no longer protectable for Get Off Kong! and has been removed from the GOK! roster.

Cover Zero: Everett Signs with Minnesota (AL)

Newly-minted free agent Adam Everett has signed a one-year contract with the Minnesota Twins.  Everett was non-tendered by the Houston Astros yestersday.

Everett is no longer eligible for protection in the WBRL, and he has been removed from the Cover Zero roster.

Non-Tender Day: Meet the New Free Agents

With yesterday’s tender deadline, the following players are now free agents:

X-Men: Rowand Signs with San Francisco (NL)

Free agent centerfielder Aaron Rowand has signed a 5-year, $60 million contract with the San Francisco Giants.

X-Men can thus protect Rowand for 2008, with two years contract eligibility and a $14 salary.

Cover Zero: LoDuca Signs With Washington (NL)

Free agent catcher Paul LoDuca has signed a one-year contract with the Washington Nationals.

Thus, LoDuca can be protected by Cover Zero for the 2008 season with 2 years of eligibility and a $15 salary.
